A gastronomic destination in
Friuli-Venezia-Giulia since over century

It all began in 1905, when the Marini family decided to take over an old tavern nearby Udine, a place where locals would meet at the end of the day for a traditional tajut (Friulian saying for “a glass of wine”).
Over the years, thanks to the III and IV generation of Marini, the entire environment has been completely renewed, as well as its gastronomic proposal.

Today, the kitchen is entrusted to the care of Chef Stefano Basello and his young team; they resort to the best local products to create modern and sustainable dishes.
The two main rooms clearly express the family’s deep love for Friuli: the biggest room boasts a traditional fogolar right at its heart which makes people feel immediately welcomed. The most recent second room is developed for real gourmet lovers; it is perfect to host original tasting tours.

Every tasting tour has a specific selection of local wines carefully chosen by our sommelier Juri Cossa who favours small local wineries.

 

Al Fogolar

For those who want to feel at home

Al Fogolar is the main room which has the traditional fogolar, the Friulian version of a fireplace, placed in the middle of the room, which is enough to heat the entire room during winter.

Renato Gazzola is the mind behind its design and furnishing since over 35 years; its terracotta floor together with the traditional furniture create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Our chef’s gastronomic proposal offers typical Friulian dishes as well as modern courses which make Al Fogolar the perfect environment for both family reunions and tasty lunch break among colleagues.
